AVI-8 IWM P-51 Mustang Chronograph Watch
The Mustang Blakeslee Chronograph Imperial War Museums Edition is powered by a Japanese TMI VK series hybrid, meca-quartz chronograph movement featuring the ultimate precision of a quartz movement coupled with the charm and character of a mechanical automatic one.
During the Second World War, British aircraft manufacturers couldn't keep up with the production demand and turned to American manufacturers who came forward with their own design for a brand new aeroplane. The prototype was brought to the Air Fighting Development Unit (AFDU) at what is now IWM Duxford. It had great potential with a low-drag fuselage and laminar flow wing but the Allison V12 engine which powered the aircraft struggled above 15,000 ft. The AFDU decided to try the aircraft with a Rolls Royce Merlin engine instead and that aircraft became one of the greatest fighters of the Second World War - the P-51 Mustang.
Features glow in the dark indices and is water resistant up to 50 metres.
Made from a stainless steel case with a genuine leather strap and mineral lens.
